CAT 980G & 988F Series 2 INBOARD BRAKE PREMATURE FAILURE SOLUTIONPROBLEM: Due to the small size of the piston the first mating plate is being dished, leading to the dishing of the first friction plate. The friction material is therefore quickly worn away on this plate. The second mating plate then also becomes dished to a lesser extend and therefore subsequently the second friction plate. This continues down the pack. SOLUTION: We have made the first mating plate almost double the original thickness, allowing the piston pressure to be applied evenly across the brake pack, without flexing/dishing. The other 4 mating plates have therefore been thinned down to keep the same pack thickness and heat sink. On top of this we have thickened the friction cores slightly to give the whole brake pack extra rigidity. TESTED: This solution has been tested in the most arduous conditions in a granite quarry, giving significant improvement in brake life. IB3067KIT 4 x Friction Plates, 4 x Thin Steel, 1 x Thick Steel We are also offering the standard plates for customers who are not experiencing these problems: 105-8750 FM3067 Friction Plate 118-6606 FM2964C Steel Plate
