Dry Brake pads: P485 material
P485 is a Sintered material developed to reduce downtime of trucks and improve pad and disc life and to reduce Brake fade.
Some current model Dump Trucks using conventional Organic disc pads have exhibited high wear of both Friction and Counter disc elements, a need to Pre-bed or Burnish pads to avoid Brake fires all of which results in a higher than desired life cycle cost for the braking system
Advantages of using P485: No burnishing of brakes required, allowing higher utilisation. Low Wear rates especially when used with recommended Brake rotor, with no loss in friction performance. It is essential that the Braking capacity both in terms of Torque, fade and energy/power capability are maintained and that Shear strengths are similar or better than existing materials. It has been demonstrated that such characteristics can be achieved in the Field as well as on Dynamometers.
